Its the Kings M.O to get scored on first for the longest time. This year isnt anything new.

They've allowed the second fewest goals so far, but it's not from being defensive. It's because Quick has stood on his head.

Here are shots allowed relative to the rest of the league:

They're allowing many more shots right up the middle of the ice and in high-danger locations than the league average.

Compare that to last year:

...and the year before:

...and the year before:

This is not the same defensive team as it was under Sutter. If Quick falters, they're going to be in trouble. Stevens and Blake need to do something about it right now, while it's being offset and covered up by great goaltending.

completely agree with you Osprey. We aren't playing elite defense, we're getting elite goaltending. I'm not sure what our identity is. We aren't notably physical anymore, still not notably quick, not above-averagedly skilled. Not dominating possession, or playing stout defense. What are we? We're kind of in the middle of everything. When fully healthy we may be able to be decidedly a skilled team, but we'll see. Still think we have the pieces to be good defensively, but it needs to be worked on.

I agree with Osprey, and I agree with the people who agree with Osprey as well as the ones who agree with me agreeing with Osprey

Well, there's no sense arguing. We're just going to have to agree to agree.

I really don't want to watch tonight's game, I think we will be going with #2 in goal, and with our current defensive scheme, it could be a blow out

I'm wondering if some of that difference might be attributable to weakness at the center position compared to prior years. Losing 20 minutes per game of Jeff Carter may mean the slot is a bit more open than in the past.

I said that stuff well before osprey did, except nobody gave a damn when I said it.

[Go ahead and scam several blogs back to see when I mentioned our sucky defense and how goaltending has kept us in it].

Kuempy was stellar again tonight. GKG!

It's not that I said it. It's that I backed it up with evidence. The folks above aren't agreeing with me as much as they're agreeing with the evidence.

Well, I am the one who realizes that you don't need a mouth to type .

In other news, am I the only one surprised that Kuemper is undefeated in regulation? I really haven't been impressed with him, yet he's 4-0-2 somehow.

Look at that... a quick, accurate wristshot from Folin goes in. Meanwhile, Doughty and Muzzin continue to think that the only possible way for a defenseman to score from the point is to wind up and take wild, headhunter slapshots.
